Dissociative electron attachment to DNA.
Electron-stimulated desorption of anions from thin films of linear and supercoiled DNA is investigated in the range 3-20 eV. Resonant structures are observed with maxima at 9.4+/-0.3, 9.2+/-0.3, and 9.2+/-0.3 eV, respectively, in the yield dependence of H-, O-, and OH- on the incident electron energy. Their formation is attributed to dissociative electron attachment.
متن کاملNonlocal effects in dissociative electron attachment to H2.
Electron scattering by diatomic molecules involving the formation of a single resonance is treated within the configuration-interaction formalism. A technique is presented for solving the resulting nonlocal integro-dN'erential equation for the nuclear motion in the resonant state. This technique is applied to the scattering of electrons by molecular hydrogen (and its isotopes) via the formation...
متن کاملLow-energy electron attachment to 5'-thymidine monophosphate: modeling single strand breaks through dissociative electron attachment.
Mechanisms of low-energy electron (LEE) attachment and subsequent single-strand break (SSB) formation are investigated by density functional theory treatment of a simple model for DNA, i.e., the nucleotide, 5'-thymidine monophosphate (5'-dTMPH). In the present study, the C5'-O5' bond dissociation due to LEE attachment has been followed along the adiabatic as well as on the vertical (electron at...
متن کاملAttachment and attachment disorder
Attachment disorder is a broad term intended to describe disorders of mood, behavior, and social relationships arising from a failure to form normal attachments to primary care giving figures in early childhood. Such a failure would result from unusual early experiences of neglect, abuse, abrupt separation from caregivers after about age 6 months but before about age 3 years, frequent change of...
